After Lil Wayne took note of his candid lyricism and fresh approach to delivery, Euro became part of the Young Money Entertainment roster in the opening years of the 2010s. Although he contributed to multiple group tracks and guest appearances, a long interval separated his first mixtape, issued in 2014, from the more refined follow-up Don't Expect Nothing, which arrived in late 2019.

Eufradis Rodriguez entered the world in the Dominican Republic in 1992. At the age of three he moved with his family to Providence, Rhode Island, where an early fascination with Christian rap took hold when he turned seven and soon shaped his developing rhyme technique. He enrolled briefly at Alabama State University before leaving to pursue music full-time. Drawing the first two letters from both his given and family names, he launched his professional career as Euro in 2012 and had already formed ties with Lil Wayne by 2013. Wayne introduced him as the latest Young Money signee on the 2013 mixtape Dedication 5, which also included a verse from the newcomer. The following year Euro appeared on the Young Money compilation Rise of an Empire and issued his own seven-track project July. He remained a frequent guest on various Lil Wayne-related singles over the ensuing years, yet plans for his own full-length were repeatedly postponed. Conceived originally as a studio album, Don't Expect Nothing ultimately emerged as a mixtape in September 2019; the stylistically wide-ranging set included Lil Wayne on the single “Talk 2 Me Crazy,” which surpassed one million streams.
