Biography
Ever We Fall originated in Portland, OR, as an emo/indie rock quartet whose smooth hooks, singalong melodies, and earnest lyrics quickly drew notice from Rise Records. After inking a deal with the label in 2003, the group tracked its six-song EP Endura alongside producer John Goodman (Death Cab for Cutie, Sleater-Kinney) and launched its inaugural U.S. tour. Momentum stalled briefly when the bassist departed mid-tour in N.Y.C., prompting the remaining members to continue as a trio with adjusted roles: Adam Brazie took over lead vocals and became the lone guitarist, Ryan Furlott moved from guitar to bass, and Matthew Szklarz remained on drums. The reconfigured band signed with Hopeless in 2004 and released its first full-length album, We Are But Human, in February 2006.
