Biography
Dutch producer Bas Bron works under numerous pseudonyms, one of which is Fatima Yamaha. Through this name he puts out restrained electronic dance music marked by a vintage, synthesizer-driven sound. The project first appeared in the early 2000s via the A Girl Between Two Worlds EP, then lay dormant until Bron reactivated it in 2015 with the album Imaginary Lines. Five years after that came Spontaneous Order in 2020.
The Fatima Yamaha name surfaced initially in 2004 when Bron issued A Girl Between Two Worlds on D1 Music. That EP contained the track "What's a Girl to Do," which kept circulating over the following decade. Shortly afterward Bron shelved the alias to concentrate on other projects such as Bastian, Gifted, and Seymour Bits. Reissues on his own Magnetron Music imprint and on Dekmantel in 2015 gave the single fresh exposure and helped build an underground audience. The renewed interest prompted Bron to bring Fatima Yamaha back for festival dates and the full-length Imaginary Lines, which arrived the same year. Additional releases followed later in the decade, among them the 2017 EP Araya and the 2019 release Heian.
Bron offered the first preview of his next Fatima Yamaha album in 2020 with the single "Day We Met" together with several remixes. Spontaneous Order also included the pieces "We Are Drops" and "Daio Alternate History." In 2022 he returned with another EP under the name, titled Build Back Bangers.
