Hailing from Jackson, Tennessee, the hard-hitting post-grunge and hard rock outfit Full Devil Jacket first assembled in 1997 as the Voodoo Hippies and drew immediate comparisons to Alice in Chains, Staind, and Godsmack. Frontman Josh Brown, guitarists Michael Reaves and Jon Montoya, bassist Kevin Bebout, and drummer Keith Foster made up the original lineup; after two independent releases they signed with Def Jam, adopted their permanent name, and played Woodstock 1999 right before unveiling the major-label EP A Wax Box. Their self-titled debut album appeared in 2000 and earned gold certification, but a near-fatal drug overdose suffered by Brown while touring with Creed forced the group into a lengthy hiatus. They returned for a lone benefit concert in 2010 to aid guitarist Reaves during his cancer battle; following Reaves’ untimely death, Brown and co-founder/drummer Keith Foster chose to revive the band in his memory. Guitarist Paul Varnick and bass player Moose Douglass joined soon afterward, and a new agreement with Entertainment One Music produced the long-awaited sophomore album Valley of Bones in 2015.
