Biography
Fur Trade represents the collaborative venture between Steve Bays, frontman of Hot Hot Heat, and Parker Bossley of the Gay Nineties. The duo channels its shared flair for memorable melodies into sonic explorations shaped by yacht rock along with psychedelic and electronic influences. Bossley, who once played bass in Hot Hot Heat, teamed with Bays to capture their debut album at the latter’s Tugboat PI studio, where Bossley supplied guitar and bass, Bays performed on drums and keyboards, and the two divided vocal duties. Following an early preview of the project’s direction through the single “Kids These Days,” the full-length release Don’t Get Heavy reached listeners in July 2013.
