Biography
Bear Mountain, the Vancouver-based outfit, produces atmospheric indie-electronic dance music that draws on a range of styles including R&B, house, and melodic pop. What started as Ian Bevis’s online solo project under the electronic singer/songwriter’s own name grew into a full band once guitarist Kyle Statham, another University of Victoria student, heard the tracks. Bevis and Statham then recruited drummer Greg Bevis, Ian’s twin brother, and the three began developing fresh material. Onstage the group fuses live instruments with its electronic textures while incorporating visuals supplied by creative director and artist Kenji Rodriguez. The band issued its debut full-length album, XO, in 2013, followed by Badu in 2016, both on Last Gang Records.
