Biography
Self-described purveyors of "tropical grit pop," the Brooklyn, New York-based indie electronic duo Ghost Beach produces crisp waves of electro-pop tinged with chillwave elements and reminiscent of Washed Out, Neon Indian, Foals, and Passion Pit. The pair came together in 2013, centered on Josh Ocean handling vocals, bass, and synths alongside Eric Mendelsohn on guitars, synths, and sampler. Early '80s sounds shape much of their approach, with Peter Gabriel, the Police, and Talking Heads among the cited influences, while the band name itself originates from a 1994 volume in R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series. Prior to issuing their Nettwerk-released debut album Blonde in 2014, Ghost Beach put out the EPs Modern Tongues and Miracle.
