Glory stepped forward in 2006 as reggaeton’s leading female presence after spending roughly twelve years on featured appearances and joint projects. Glorimar Montalvo Castro entered the world in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and had already advanced toward a master’s degree in education and public health when the music industry drew her in. An offer to lay down coros for rapper Eddie Dee opened the path to partnerships with the genre’s leading and most influential acts. Her vocals surface on several of reggaeton’s landmark tracks, whether supplying the indelible hooks “dame mas gasolina” and “suelta como gabete” or adding her signature sensual moan. She has also been identified at times as Glou or la Gata Gangster. Among the artists with whom she has worked stand Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Hector & Tito, Eddie Dee, and numerous others. Her contributions appear on such successes as “Gasolina,” “Traicionera,” and “Perreo 101.” Extensive touring has taken her across Central and South America, Spain, and the United States. In 2005 she issued her debut solo project, Glou/Glory, through the forward-thinking Machete Music imprint.
