Yet another outlet for the indefatigable Rob Crow, whose résumé already encompasses Pinback, Heavy Vegetable, Thingy, Alpha Males, Other Men, Optiganally Yours, Physics, the Ladies, Fantasy Mission Force, Snotnose, Advertising, Remote Action Sequence Project, Cthugha, and Altron Tube, Goblin Cock foregrounds his affinity for metal and comic-book fantasy. Cloaked and veiled in layers of secrecy and self-aware humor, the lineup remains elusive, its members identified only by the monikers Lord Phallus, Bane Ass-Pounder, King Sith Braindeath, and Loki Sinjuggler. Issued by Absolutely Kosher Records in 2005, the band’s first full-length, Bagged and Boarded, drew immediate notice for its explicit sleeve—an image of a goblin baring its anatomy—rendered by Mike Sutfin, the artist known for Magic and Star Wars comics. The record collected three Plug Award nominations; after a brief tour and Crow’s return to Pinback obligations, the collective prepared its follow-up, Come with Me If You Want to Live. That sequel appeared in January 2009, coinciding with the Cock Across America Tour. While Crow subsequently devoted time to his numerous other endeavors, he revived Goblin Cock in 2016 with the long-awaited third album, Necronomidonkeykongimicon.
