Biography
Indianapolis natives Cole Wallace on vocals, Brent Schindler on bass and vocals, Patrick Meadows on guitar, and T.J. Sego on drums launched the Christian metalcore band Gwen Stacy in 2004. Their music fused uplifting, optimistic lyrics with heavy riffs shaped by Underoath, Evergreen Terrace, and Stretch Arm Strong, prompting the five-piece to crisscross the United States for two years before tracking material with producers Paul Leavitt and Brian McTernan in autumn 2007. Ferret Music issued the resulting debut album, The Life I Know, at the beginning of 2008. Plans for a co-headlining run with Poison the Well were derailed when Wallace exited shortly before the first date; recent backup guitarist Bobby Oakley filled the lead vocal slot for several months until Keith Jones, previously of Rise, assumed the role for the December shows. Geoff Jenkins arrived as Wallace’s permanent successor in early 2009, and the reconfigured lineup unveiled A Dialogue later that same year.
