Memphis native Ethan Healy balanced two demanding paths in the early stages of his music career, pursuing medical studies during daylight hours while dedicating evenings to recording and performance. Blending relaxed hip-hop beats with introspective acoustic songwriting, he first gained notice through atmospheric tracks such as the 2017 single "Reckless," featured on his debut full-length Subluxe, before shifting toward R&B textures on later projects including the 2021 album Tungsten and the 2023 standalone cut "Famous Last Words," a collaboration with Cautious Clay.

Born in Memphis in 1993, Healy absorbed the distinctive cultural and sonic atmosphere of his Midtown upbringing. Following high school he taught himself guitar and shared several acoustic-leaning pieces online before redirecting his energies toward hip-hop. In 2015, under the name Healy, he posted his first EP, A Galaxy with Skin, which rapidly attracted listeners. While enrolled in medical school his music began to gain traction, yet he maintained both commitments for several years, issuing tracks like the 2016 single "Phantoms" and completing the album Subluxe in 2017. He earned his physical therapy degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 2018. The following year he issued the melodic single "Tucson." During 2020 he previewed his forthcoming record through a series of gradual releases that later formed the 2021 album Tungsten. After that sophomore project, Healy remained out of view until June 2023, when he returned with "2D," followed the next month by the Cautious Clay collaboration "Famous Last Words."
