Caye, who works across singing, rapping, songwriting, and production, favors a relaxed and open-ended sound that fits his namesake, the 1978 Bob Marley & the Wailers album Kaya. The Santa Monica-based alternative pop artist first gained traction on his own with the hazy, hedonistic 2015 single “Coma,” which later surpassed ten million streams. After issuing the EPs Shades in 2016 and Pink Tree Paradise in 2018, he leaned more heavily into vocals, frequently spotlighting his falsetto across the candid full-length statements Isa (2020) and We Love (2023).

Born in Boston, Caye Tittmann picked up several instruments while still young. In high school he began producing, briefly drawing from mainstream EDM, and also started singing and rapping. Though he stood out in tennis, he had already decided on a music career by graduation and moved to Los Angeles to enroll at USC Thornton School of Music. He launched his catalog with 2015’s “Coma,” added more tracks the following year alongside the Shades EP, then dropped another run of singles in 2017, the same year he founded his Pink Tree imprint. His second EP, Pink Tree Paradise, appeared in 2018 and featured Wiz Khalifa on “Easy.”

In 2019 he scored one of his strongest releases with the understatedly encouraging “Trust Fall” and also lent a hand to Alessia Cara’s This Summer. Between 2020 and 2021 he balanced solo and joint projects, co-writing Meghan Trainor’s “Lie to Me,” handling production for Abhi the Nomad’s Abhi vs the Universe, and putting out the Isa EP. A series of 2022 singles preceded the February 2023 release of We Love, which compiled those recordings.
