Ryan Caraveo weaves narrative-driven verses, tuneful phrasing, and subdued beats into reflective pieces that sit between introspective R&B and understated rap, occasionally threading electronic textures through projects such as the 2019 album Butterfly Boy. Born in Seattle, he relocated repeatedly throughout his early years. Music absorbed his complete attention by age 15, prompting him to craft his own beats, design his own visuals, and manage every aspect of self-release. Several online platforms had helped him amass a loyal following by 2014. Although his foundation remained rooted in rap craftsmanship, the self-examining lyrics often drifted into sung melody while confronting mental health and emotional fragility. His debut full-length, Swings, surfaced in 2014 and was followed the next year by the Happy Now EP. Second album Maybe They Were Wrong arrived in 2016; two years later At Least I Tried sustained the balance of buoyant production against weighty personal themes. Butterfly Boy brought more sophisticated arrangements in 2019, with its songs accumulating tens of millions of streams. He issued the track “Nutcase” in 2020 and the slow, dreamy “Ricochet” in 2021.
