Hector el Father, also known as Hector "El Bambino," ranks among the early architects of reggaeton. He first gained notice as one half of the groundbreaking duo Hector & Tito, sometimes called Los Bambinos, prior to launching an independent path. Born Héctor Delgado Román, he opened his solo chapter with two mixtapes released on CD: Los Anormales in 2005 and Los Rompe Discotekas the following year. The second of those projects stood out because it appeared on Roc la Familia, the freshly established Latin imprint of The Island Def Jam Music Group then headed by rap legend Jay-Z, whose interest in reggaeton was widely noted. Jay-Z joined Hector, though with limited effort, on the lead track “Here We Go Yo.” While that Def Jam affiliation drew considerable notice, Hector achieved greater commercial impact with his first official solo album, The Bad Boy, issued in 2007 by Machete Music. That project contained the chart-topping single “Sola,” still his most successful recording.
