Biography
Chencho Corleone, one half of the storied reggaeton duo Plan B, emerged as a defining presence in the genre throughout the 2000s, channeling his singular nasal timbre into enduring tracks such as “Es un Secreto” and “Si No Le Contesto.” Three albums later—El Mundo del Plan B (2002), House of Pleasure (2010), and Love & Sex (2014)—Plan B dissolved in 2018. Chencho reasserted himself as a solo force during reggaeton’s next commercial peak, supplying featured vocals for Bad Bunny on “Me Porto Bonito,” Rauw Alejandro on “Desesperados,” and Ozuna on “Una Locura,” all of which paved the way for his debut solo album, SOLO, released in 2024.
Born Orlando Javier Valle Vega in the coastal Puerto Rican city of Guayama, he launched his career alongside cousin Edwin, adopting the respective stage names Chencho and Maldy. Initially performing as “The Panic,” the pair contributed the high-velocity reggaeton cut “Voy Subiendo” to DJ Blass’s early compilation @ria-51: Aliados al Escuadrón (also released as Reggaeton Sex 1). After placing “Plan B” on Reggaeton Sex 2 (2001), they adopted that title as their own and delivered their first compilation album, El Mundo del Plan B, the following year. The set earned gold certification in Puerto Rico, while further early-2000s appearances on Guatauba xXx (“Guatauba”), Mas Flow (“Tu Sabes”), and El Documental (“Ya Regresé”) kept them visible. Their breakthrough arrived via the Chosen Few II compilation, where “Frikitona” became their first entry on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.
In 2008 the duo signed with Pina Records and issued their proper studio debut, House of Pleasure, in 2010. The album anchored several signature reggaeton singles—“Es un Secreto,” “Si No Le Contesto,” and “Por Que Te Demoras”—and led to additional compilation features alongside Daddy Yankee, Zion & Lennox, and Arcángel, plus Chencho’s own hit “Candy.” Their second studio album, Love & Sex, followed in 2014 and yielded “Fanatica Sensual,” later remixed with Nicky Jam, while also hosting guest spots from Tego Calderón, Yandel, and Alexis y Fido. After further singles, tours, and joint work, Plan B ended their run with a final shared appearance on Justin Quiles’ 2018 single “Si Tú.”
Chencho’s distinctive vocal approach, melodic sensibility, and polished phrasing soon positioned him as a sought-after collaborator. His first solo credit came on Rauw Alejandro’s 2019 smooth reggaeton track “El Efecto,” which quickly amassed hundreds of millions of streams. He went on to anchor Dalex’s “Hola (Remix)” and KEVVO’s “105F (Remix)” that same year, then continued into the 2020s with chart-topping features on Ozuna’s “Una Locura,” Rauw Alejandro’s “Desperados,” Chris Jedi’s “La Llevo al Cielo,” and Maluma’s “Nos Comemos Vivos.” The 2022 Bad Bunny collaboration “Me Porto Bonito” proved especially massive, surpassing two billion views, dominating charts across the United States and South America, and receiving five-times platinum certification in Spain. Chencho stayed active in 2023 with the solo single “Un Cirgarillo” and joined Peso Pluma for 2024’s “Humo,” the first preview of his long-awaited full-length. Issued that September and titled SOLO, the album also featured Rauw Alejandro, Jay Wheeler, Bryant Myers, and additional guests.
