Biography
Emerging from central South Carolina, the female-fronted pop/rock quintet I Nine made its initial mark in 2005 after receiving a direct invitation from screenwriter/director Cameron Crowe to feature on the Elizabethtown motion picture soundtrack. The group, still early in its career and consisting of vocalist Carmen Keigans, cellist/guitarist Bryan Gibson, guitarist Brian Whitman, and bassist Matt Heath, had actually come together the previous year in Orangeburg. That quiet community’s limited size meant most of the band’s initial performances took place in nearby Columbia. In search of greater opportunities, the musicians moved to Atlanta, GA, where they both contributed to the Elizabethtown soundtrack and issued their Live EP in 2005. Two years afterward, I Nine issued the radio single “Seven Days of Lonely” to build anticipation for the full-length debut Heavy Weighs the King, then slated for nationwide release in 2008.
