Biography
Singer Patrick Nissley and drummer Jared Piccone had both played in the Reading, PA-based emo band Thirteen Over Eight before launching the dance-rock outfit Innerpartysystem, which bore the imprint of the early Killers. Piccone, then occupying the drum chair, joined Thirteen Over Eight in 2000, several years after the group’s formation. Although Thirteen Over Eight earned favorable local attention and drew comparisons to the Used and Thursday, genuine traction arrived only after the pair formed the electronic-inspired project the Takeover, which later evolved into Innerpartysystem. With Kris Barman handling keys and Jesse Cronan covering guitars and keys, the ensemble signed to Stolen Transmission—led by Sarah Lewitinn, credited with helping My Chemical Romance and the Killers reach the mainstream—in May 2007 and released their The Download EP a few months afterward.
