Canadian trio Inward Eye drew early parallels to such high-voltage rock acts as the Clash, the Jam, and the Who, earning further validation when the Who selected them as opening act for a Canadian tour in 2006. The Winnipeg, Manitoba natives consist of three brothers: Dave Erickson, born in 1983, who handles bass and lead vocals; guitarist Kyle Erickson, born in 1985; and drummer Anders Erickson, born in 1987. The siblings first joined forces musically in 1997, though wider notice on the Canadian scene did not arrive until 2003. Momentum built rapidly from that point, and by 2004 managers Glen Willows, formerly of the 1980s Canadian band Harlequin, and Rob Lanni had come aboard, enabling the group to sell out West Coast venues across the country. Producer Arnold Lanni, known for prior work with Simple Plan and Our Lady Peace, shaped their early recordings, while support slots alongside Urge Overkill and Billy Talent followed. Persistent touring throughout Canada, supplemented by select U.S. showcase appearances, culminated in a 2006 deal with J Records, with the band’s first album slated for release the following year.
