Worship leader, recording artist, songwriter, and producer Israel Houghton committed himself to full-time ministry work in 1989. Right away he aimed to bridge divides across cultures and church traditions. That vision led him to launch New Breed Ministries in 1995 alongside his wife Meleasa and an ensemble of elite musicians and vocalists. Extensive touring carried the group’s dynamic, eclectic sound into congregations nationwide, while his pair of 1997 projects, Whisper It Loud and Way of the World, launched his discography. New Season arrived in 2001 as the debut Israel & New Breed album and their first outing on Sony. The same imprint later released Real in 2002 and Live from Another Level, issued in both CD and DVD formats, in 2004. Alive in South Africa captured a 2005 concert in Cape Town before an audience of 8,000. The seasonal collection Timeless Christmas followed the next year, succeeded by Love God. Love People. The London Sessions in 2010. Integrity put out Decade in 2012, a two-disc, 26-track retrospective of his career, together with Jesus at the Center: Live. Houghton and his ensemble kept chronicling their journeys through 2015’s Covered: Alive in Asia.
