Emerging as a vocalist and tunesmith equipped with a powerful delivery and sharp compositional skills, Ivory Layne started crafting and capturing tracks within her domestic environment as a teenager before uploading those early recordings to the internet. Hailing from Denver, North Carolina, she drew the attention of producer and songwriter Ed Cash, who collaborated on the creation, production, and issuance of her initial extended play release titled Volume One in 2013. After moving to Nashville, she integrated deeply into the local music composition community there, securing a publishing agreement through LBK Entertainment while partnering with figures such as Lori McKenna, Jimmy Robbins, and Shane McAnally. The follow-up EP from 2014, Something's Gonna Happen, achieved worldwide visibility once its namesake song was selected for a pair of prominent commercial promotions. Her inventive lyricism paired with lively tunefulness also positioned her as a sought-after collaborator on compositions, and her vocal abilities led to studio partnerships with performers including Needtobreathe and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. In 2015 she entered into an arrangement with Villa40, the artist development entity founded by Justin Timberlake, and commenced development of fresh songs. September 2017 saw the release of her track "Shake My Head".
