Biography
Jai'Len Josey works as a singer, songwriter, and actress whose sultry, emotionally candid approach defines her particular strain of R&B. Hillman Grad Records signed her, leading to the 2020 arrival of her first project, the EP Illustrations, and the 2023 follow-up Southern Delicacy.
Atlanta, Georgia, serves as her hometown, where she began performing early and reached Broadway at age 16 in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical. Additional credits include a range of regional theater appearances, the starring role in the off-Broadway production The Secret Life of Bees, and voice acting assignments for Nickelodeon and PBS Kids. In 2019 she co-wrote, produced, and sang on “Rhythm of Olay,” placed in Oil of Olay’s ALS-themed musical commercial campaign.
The same year she secured a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing, through which she has collaborated on songs with Ari Lennox, SiR, and others. She also became one of the first artists signed to Lena Waithe’s Def Jam imprint Hillman Grad Records. In 2023 Josey issued her sophomore EP, Southern Delicacy, which featured the single “Good Soup.”
