Biography
Born José Ignacio García Lapido, Spanish pop/rock singer, guitarist, and composer José Ignacio Lapido first entered the local rock scene by joining Al-Dar in 1980, which issued the hit single "Somos Nuevos" the next year. Also in 1981 the band 091 was assembled and released its debut album Cementerio De Automoviles in 1984, quickly establishing itself as one of Spain’s leading acts. Lapido stepped out as a solo artist in 1999 with Ladridos Del Perro Magico on Big Bang Records, an album honored by Formula Uno as release of the year. Local newspaper Ideal later named the singer/songwriter among the celebrities of the century.
