Biography
Cassandra Kouremenos, known professionally as KALLITECHNIS, blends soul, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, and house throughout her songwriting and performances. She seeks to deliver egoless music capable of healing and assisting listeners, informed in part by her psychology degree and engagement with art therapy.
Raised in a Greek household in Montreal’s Park Extension district, Kouremenos revealed exceptional ability from childhood onward. Working without formal instruction, she developed skills as a singer, songwriter, dancer, and visual artist, applying them across numerous talent competitions. Psychology studies at McGill University followed and gradually became embedded in her creative process. From 2014 onward she uploaded cover versions to online platforms, attracting the interest of the manager she would later retain. That contact soon produced her first original song, “Talk Talk Talk,” in 2016. The next year she confronted a choice between enrolling in a master’s program in art therapy and dedicating herself to music; she selected the latter while continuing to integrate principles from the former into her material. Her debut EP, Wet Paint, appeared later in 2017. In 2018 she traveled to Los Angeles to attend a songwriting camp hosted by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Equipped with new methods and ideas from the session, she released her second EP, Chromatic, in 2019. Her third project, Because It Feels Good, followed in 2021.
