Biography
Kathryn Dean, a Los Angeles-based pop singer and songwriter, took up songcraft during her mid-teens. Placement of two of her compositions on the Brazilian teen soap opera Malhacao in 2014 delivered her first major breakthrough, after which she issued her self-titled debut EP later that same year. Although Dean has named Adele as a confessed influence and her passionate, soulful vocals echo that artist, the songs themselves often project a playful, rock-inflected character. Her debut full-length, Hit the Lights, arrived in the spring of 2015.
