Biography
Emerging from the U.K., Katy Tiz first gained notice in 2013 through the dance-pop single "Red Cup." She had started out performing as one half of a duo alongside her brother, and the pair spent time playing folk-rock shows across the U.K. before Tiz concluded in 2011 that her future lay in solo pure pop. Uploading a demo of "Fire Fire" to the influential ArjanWrites drew the attention of site owner Arjan, who had been asked to share contact details for Lava Records A&R head Harinder Rana. After signing with Lava, she put out the singles "Famous," "Heart," and "Red Cup" in 2012-2013. Teaming next with producers Rock Mafia, she issued "The Big Bang" in early 2014. Its momentum led to a new Atlantic Records agreement, and the track entered the Top 100 by May. In 2015 she introduced her debut album via the single "Whistle (While You Work It)," co-produced by J.R. Rotem and Teal Douville.
