Biography
In 2007 Kristian Meurman gained widespread attention as a contestant on the Finnish Idols television program, finishing in fourth place. Sony BMG Records signed him shortly afterward, resulting in the summer 2007 release of his debut full-length, Ensiaskeleet (First Steps). Every track on the album consists of Finnish-language covers of well-known songs, extending from the Bee Gees' "Only One Woman" to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." The record climbed to number two on the Finnish pop charts and earned gold certification after only two weeks of availability. Years earlier, in 2000, Meurman had already issued a self-released CD-EP titled At the End of the Road under his own name. He also fronts the band Agathon's Legacy, which independently produced and released an English-language CD-EP in 2004.
