Biography
Kweku Collins, a rapper, songwriter, and producer whose work sits outside mainstream conventions, drew widespread media notice while still a student at his hometown high school in Evanston, Illinois. After inking a deal in 2015 with the Chicago-based independent label Closed Sessions, he turned down an offer to attend Columbia College in favor of devoting himself fully to music. His catalog grew steadily in the years that followed, as a series of singles and projects such as Say It Here, While It's Safe (2015), Nat Love (2016), and Grey (2017) helped enlarge his audience. Collins has further contributed to recordings by regular associates and Closed Sessions in-house producers OddCouple and Boathouse, along with RITUAL and Layna.
