Biography
Lacey Sturm, born Mosley, gained prominence during the early 2000s as the frontwoman for the hard rock outfit Flyleaf. Her unique vocal style and intense screams were instrumental in driving the group to multi-platinum achievements through tracks like the hard rock anthems "I'm So Sick" and "I'm Sorry." Prior to her friendly exit from the band in 2012, aimed at prioritizing her family and religious beliefs, they put out three full-length records along with an EP. On her own, she provided tracks for various projects, including the 2012 Underworld: Awakening film score with "Heavy Prey" and a 2013 collection tied to evangelist Billy Graham featuring "The Reason" and "Mercy Tree." Her initial literary effort arrived in 2014 via Baker Books, a memoir called The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living that detailed her path of faith. Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch penned the introduction; a fellow outspoken Christian, he joins Sturm in the Whosoevers, a movement promoting positivity among youth that includes Sonny Sandoval from P.O.D. Returning to her rock foundations the following year, she crafted her first solo album Life Screams alongside her spouse and guitarist Josh Sturm, Korey Cooper of Skillet, and former Evanescence participant David Hodges. Residing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her live ensemble featured drummer Tom Gascon and bassist Ben Hull. The lead track "Impossible" showcased her signature howl, aligning her with vocalists like Karen O, Brody Dalle, and Amy Lee, set against guitar riffs reminiscent of her Flyleaf era. Life Screams came out in February 2016.
