LaFee first rose to prominence in German pop circles while still only 16. Born Christina Klein on December 9, 1990, in Aachen, she gained nationwide notice in 2004 through an appearance on the RTL amateur showcase Kiddy Contest. Producer Bob Arnz soon offered her a recording contract, leading to the early-2006 release of her debut single “Virus,” which launched a run of four straight Top 40 hits that also featured “Prinzesschen,” “Was Ist Das?,” and “Mitternacht.” The self-titled debut album that followed topped the charts in both Germany and Austria, a feat repeated by her second LP, Jetzt Erst Recht, issued on EMI in 2007. In 2008 she ventured into English-language material with Shut Up, yet the album fell short of her prior commercial heights, landing outside the Top 20 in Germany and Austria while failing to open doors elsewhere in Europe. She recovered momentum the next year with the strong-selling Ring Frei and a greatest-hits collection, then returned in 2011 with Frei.
