Club veterans Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa launched Lost Souls of Saturn as an experimental techno and ambient outfit. The pair draw conceptual fuel from Philip K. Dick, Sun Ra, and Alejandro Jodorowsky while probing sci-fi, astrology, mysticism, spiritualism, cosmology, and related territories. Beyond recordings, the duo direct multidisciplinary live endeavors and art installations, issuing their self-titled debut album via R&S in 2019; the augmented-reality project Reality surfaced in 2024, accompanied by the remix collection Reality Hacked.

Troxler and Moffa first appeared together on the Rogue Music 12" for Hypercolour in 2015 and supplied joint remixes occasionally credited to the initials LSOS. Their inaugural outing under the Lost Souls of Saturn name—an ambient reworking of Lebanese band Mashrou' Leila’s “Bint El Khandaq”—emerged on R&S in 2017. The following year they staged their live debut inside Ernesto Neto’s GaiaMotherTree installation at Zurich Main Train Station. The EP Holes in the Holoverse arrived in 2019 ahead of the full-length Lost Souls of Saturn, while the Deadbeat collaboration Huey Lewis Dub, Vol. 2 closed out 2020.

After inaugurating the Holoverse Research Labs imprint, the project issued the 2021 remix EPs Cycloned by Pépé Bradock and The Freak Opera Remixes. Additional activity included a rework of UNKLE’s “Do Yourself Some Good” and the TOKiMONSTA collaboration “Revision of the Past.” In 2023 the Wareika track “United” appeared on a Rawax 12". Reality, the second LSOS full-length, followed in 2024, presenting Troxler and Moffa as sci-fi augmented-reality characters alongside guest contributions from Lvv Gvn, Adam Ohr, and Detroit post-punks Protomartyr. Reality Hacked, a subsequent remix anthology, incorporated versions by UNKLE, Pangaea, Om Unit, and Matthew Dear, among others.
