Lottie rose to prominence as a British house DJ whose profile surged across the UK near the millennium. Born Charlotte Horne in Chester, England, she secured her initial foothold on the domestic club circuit in 1996 by becoming a weekly resident at The Gallery, at the time one of London’s premier nights. Late in the decade she stepped forward as a producer, issuing the 12-inch The Sound in 1999 on Duty Free Recordings and collaborating with Malcolm Duffy on The Yob that same year under the Tribal Truble moniker for Remote Recordings. Musik magazine also named her Best Newcomer in 1999. Several mix compilations appeared in quick succession—7 Live #2 in 2000 for DMC, Snapshot in 2001 for React, and The True Sound of...Ibiza Nights in 2002 for Musik—while she and longtime friend Caroline Prothero established the boutique imprint Missdemeanours Music, which had begun life as a dance night in 1998. Under the alias Aficionados she joined Steve Mac and Mutiny to helm the label’s first release, Booty Shake/Bad Bitch in 2003; she subsequently delivered Supakilla for the same outlet in 2004. After stepping away from public view for several years, she resumed regular DJ appearances during the second half of the decade.
