A trailblazing figure among U.K. drill producers, M1OnTheBeat has shaped many of the genre’s defining records from his London base, among them Loski’s “Money and Beef,” CGM’s “Next Up?,” Digga D’s “Woi,” Headie One’s “Golden Boot,” and the Drake and Headie One collaboration “Only You Freestyle.”

At sixteen he left home and moved into the YMCA in Hornsey, determined to stand on his own while learning the craft of music production. There he crossed paths with fellow U.K. producer MkThePlug, and the pair quickly formed a partnership that yielded early credits on CGM’s “Play for the Pagans” and CB’s “Take That Risk.” His signature palette of dark textures and turbulent 808s left a lasting imprint on the scene’s formative releases; within 2017 alone he handled Loski’s “Money and Beef” and “Mummy’s Kitchen,” CGM’s “Next Up?,” and Headie One’s “Golden Boot.” Through the remainder of the decade he maintained momentum with additional contributions to Headie One’s “Of Course,” Frosty’s “County Lines 2,” OFB’s “Next Up,” Morrisson’s “Shots,” and DigDat’s “Daily Duppy.”

He opened 2020 by producing Digga D’s return single “Woi,” which debuted at number 24 on the U.K. chart, then reached wider audiences with Headie One and Drake’s “Only You Freestyle.” That Drake endorsement helped introduce U.K. drill to global listeners, propelling the track to number five on the U.K. chart and earning it a gold certification at home. Subsequent highlights of the early 2020s include K-Trap’s “Warm” and Headie One’s “Martin’s Sofa.” In November 2023 M1OnTheBeat issued his first full-length project, M1OnTheBeat The Mixtape, a collection rooted in U.K. drill that unites established drill figures with emerging voices.
