London-based Darkoo blended British and African influences through her deep vocal style, scoring catchy successes via "Gangsta" and "Juicy" while appearing on the chart-topping drill track "Body [Remix]."

Aspiring toward soccer stardom in her youth, she soon recognized her musical promise instead; after sharpening her voice during school, the MC dropped her first single, "Gas Station," at age 16. Built on sultry narratives and full-bodied vocals, she fused Afroswing, Afrobeats, and U.K. rap into a rhythmic, memorable sound that quickly built a loyal U.K. following through later releases such as "Juice" and "Rover." Her breakthrough arrived in 2019 with the hit single "Gangsta." The One Acen collaboration reached number 22 on the U.K. charts and turned into a streaming staple thanks to its grounded melodies, confident delivery, and relaxed beats.

Following her Virgin EMI signing, she scored another success with the 2020 Hardy Caprio track "Juicy," which landed at number 62, while testing quicker tempos on "Kryptonite" and global textures on "Cinderella." In 2021 the vocalist joined Tion Wayne and Russ Millions on their landmark "Body [Remix]," claiming the top spot; the song became the biggest U.K. drill release ever, as her bold, distinctive approach meshed effectively with the track’s broad roster of featured artists. Her first EP, 2 in 1, arrived shortly afterward. Its title captured her mixed sound and heritage, and the project included appearances by Tion Wayne, Unknown T, Blanco, and Gabzy.
