M3, whose full name is Música Movimento Magia, emerged as a Portuguese teen pop trio whose members had previously worked as actresses on the long-running series Morangos com Açúcar. The lineup features Maria, born Maria Sampaio, Mafalda, born Mafalda Teixeira, and Pipa, born Filipa Baptista. Maria portrayed the character Liliana throughout the program’s second season, whereas Mafalda appeared as Patrícia during its fourth. The three performers launched their recording career under the M3 banner in 2008 by releasing the album Viva o Verão via the NZ Produções imprint in tandem with Sony BMG. That project, which spotlighted the promotional single “O Verão Já Chegou,” climbed to number six on the Portuguese albums chart. A second ten-song mini-album, Se uma Estrela Passar, followed later in 2008 and registered weaker commercial returns. Like the debut, it contained five original tracks alongside instrumental karaoke counterparts.
