Hailing from Indonesia, Maina Doe works as a singer and songwriter now based in Sydney and crafts an inviting strain of progressive R&B. Her entry into commercial releases came via the self-issued “Delusion” in 2019, after which she joined the Valve Sounds roster and issued the 2022–2023 singles “Primal Design” and “Let Her Be.”

Born and raised in Bandung, she began singing in childhood and made her first recordings in the late 2010s under her birth name, Nasra. Exposure to Sydney’s music circles gradually transformed her grounding in traditional soul into a hybrid style anchored in R&B yet open to strands of contemporary pop, hip-hop, and dance music. Under the name Maina Doe she issued the independent singles “Delusion” in 2019 and “Unwritten Laws” in 2020, the latter carrying a guest verse from Genesis Owusu and leading to shared billing on Jay Cooper’s “See Me” and BLESSED’s “Trouble.” After signing with Valve Sounds she debuted on the label in 2022 with “Primal Design,” months after performing for a sold-out audience at the Sydney Opera House. Early in 2023 she collaborated with King Ivy and IJALE on “WYA,” then, while finishing her debut EP, released the uptempo “Let Her Be,” produced by 18YOMAN, LEN20, and UNO Stereo—creators whose prior work encompasses tracks for Sampa the Great, Kid Cudi, and Wale.
