Alice Ivy

Alice Ivy, an electronic producer from Australia, blends soulful textures using hip-hop samples in a manner reminiscent of the Avalanches, Gramatik, and L'Orange. The year 2018 marked the release of her first album, I'm Dreaming.

Born Annika Schmarsel and based in Melbourne, the artist began her musical journey playing guitar within a soul band before pursuing solo endeavors in electronic music. Her initial single came in 2015 with "Paint Me Blue," which included vocals from Chloe Beckwith. In the subsequent year, she put out "Touch" featuring Georgia van Etten alongside "Almost Here" with RaRa. These songs eventually found their way onto the full-length debut I'm Dreaming, put out by Last Gang Records at the start of 2018.

Her sophomore effort Don't Sleep came about after being composed mainly during tours backing the first album and involved recording sessions with a range of artists including alternative rapper Cadence Weapon, indie singer/songwriter Bertie Blackman, and neo-soul singer Ngaiire among others. Last Gang issued the album in the middle of 2020.
