Biography
In the middle of the 2000s metalcore maintained its fierce intensity, and Manntis helped stoke that momentum. Operating since 2000 throughout southern California and its environs, the band reached a national audience only in 2004 after joining MTV’s Battle for Ozzfest, the reality competition that matched rising metal acts against one another for a recording contract and an Ozzfest touring slot. Manntis came up short in the contest yet still secured the chance to tour the country. By April 2005 Century Media had signed vocalist Jake Sirokman, guitarists Adair Cobley and Jeremy Swanson, bassist Clint Gregory, and drummer James Sanders, resulting in the June appearance of Manntis’ roaring debut, Sleep in Your Grave.
