Biography
Blending sharp-edged bedroom pop with rap, Utah's MASN achieved widespread traction through his brooding breakout tracks "Psycho!" and "Hate Me!," which amassed millions of streams during 2020. After generating substantial online attention, he secured a major-label agreement that supported his first EP. In 2021 he issued the follow-up single "2 Times."
While a sophomore at high school in Eagle Mountain, Utah, Mason Rupper suffered a collarbone injury that halted his football ambitions. The next year he turned to music, discovering an aptitude for crafting beats overlaid with dark pop melodies alongside a confessional rapping and singing approach. Initial releases "Athens" and "Princeville Drive" nurtured an online following, yet the somber rhythms of "Psycho!," captured in his senior year, sparked viral recognition. After the track's independent breakthrough in 2019, Rupper joined RCA, which placed both "Psycho!" and the likewise popular "Hate Me!" on his 2020 EP How to Kill a Rockstar. MASN reemerged twelve months afterward with the downcast, dreamy "2 Times."
