Biography
The rock ensemble Mason Hill, rooted in Glasgow, embraces the sweeping scale and forceful guitar lines inherent to classic rock while layering in a sense of vitality and drive.
Guitarist James Bird demonstrated early promise as a prodigy, completing U.K. tours and appearing with established performers before turning 14. He connected with vocalist Scott Taylor during their school years through a mutual appreciation of classic rock. The pair launched Mason Hill in 2013, recruiting Marc Montgomery on guitar, Matthew Ward on bass, and Craig McFetridge on drums. Their self-titled debut EP surfaced in 2015 and initiated an intensive run of live dates that encompassed repeated festival engagements. After severing ties with their original label Frontiers in 2018, the group aligned with 7Hz Productions in 2021. Under this arrangement they issued their first full-length effort, Against the Wall, before the year concluded.
