Biography
Formed in Glasgow, Scotland, Mendeed brought together vocalist David Proctor, lead guitarist Steven Nixon, rhythm guitarist Steph Gildea, bassist/vocalist Chris Lavery, and drummer Kevin Matthews. The five first connected as teenagers at local Dumbarton Academy and progressed through multiple heavy metal approaches before locking into a frenzied fusion of power metal and deathcore for their 2002 EP Killing Something Beautiful. They later shared bills with rising Brit power metallers Dragonforce and other acts. After issuing the EPs As We Rise in 2003 and From Shadows Came Darkness in 2004, the band left their original indie label Rising Records for the larger Nuclear Blast imprint, which released the full-length albums This War Will Last Forever (2006) and The Dead Live by Love (2007).
