Milk & Sugar

Influenced by the disco-house sounds that defined mid-'90s London clubs, the German duo Milk & Sugar have built an extensive reputation as remixers, producers, DJs, and founders of their own imprint. Michael Kronenberger, performing as Mike Milk, and Steffen Harding, known as Steven Sugar, previously worked together under several aliases such as Axis, Hitch Hiker, and Mike Stone & Steve Heller before officially adopting the Milk & Sugar name in 1997. They launched Milk & Sugar Records and quickly brought aboard Tim Deluxe, Robbie Rivera, and Kid Alex, while issuing their own club-focused tracks that included updated versions of John Paul Young’s 1977 one-hit wonder “Love Is in the Air” and the 5th Dimension’s 1969 chart-topper “Let the Sun Shine,” the latter featuring former Aurora vocalist and sister of Twilight’s Robert, Lizzy Pattinson; both singles climbed into the U.K. Top 30. Parallel to their own releases, the pair handled remixes for Jamiroquai on “Corner of the Earth,” Tim Deluxe on “It Just Won’t Do,” DB Boulevard on “Point of View,” and additional projects involving Sarah Brightman, Mya, and Samantha Mumba. Following regular appearances at Ibiza venues including Amnesia, Space, and El Divino, they secured U.K. club chart number ones with “You Got Me Burnin’” and “Let the Love (Take Over),” curated the compilation series In Miami, On a Mission, and Summer Mix, and delivered a major European success in 2011 through their reworking of Belgian group Vaya con Dios’ “Hey (Nah Neh Nah).”
