Hailing from Brighton in the United Kingdom, DJ and producer Ryan Hurley, performing under the alias Kideko, broke into the British house circuit during 2015 through the launch of his first single, “The Jam.” Before that point he had served as a drummer in several local bands, yet enrollment at Northbrook College—where he pursued music technology and production—sparked his shift toward electronic and dance styles. The opening release, built around a sample of Technotronic’s “Pump Up the Jam,” drew notice from an array of BBC Radio 1 voices that included Annie Mac, Mistajam, Danny Howard, and Pete Tong. In 2016 he issued his next single, a partnership with George Kwali titled “Crank It (Woah!).” That was followed in 2017 by the collaboration “Burnin’ Up” alongside Friend Within and then by the infectious “Dum Dum,” which carried guest spots from Tinie Tempah and Becky G. Reconnecting with Kwali, the pair delivered “All on Me” in 2018, after which Kideko released the solo cut “Good Thing.”
