Biography
Milk Music fuse the propulsive hooks associated with the Wipers, the slashing riffs of Hüsker Dü, and the melodic-on-the-edge-of-control vocals of early Dinosaur Jr. to refresh early- to mid-'80s SST-style hardcore punk alongside '90s lo-fi Pacific Northwest sounds for contemporary ears. The quartet originated in Olympia, Washington, and features singer/guitarist Alex Coxen, his brother Joe Rutter on drums, guitarist Charles Warring, and bassist Dave Harris. Listeners first encountered the group’s anthemic, thrashing approach via a self-titled cassette the band issued itself in 2009; the Beyond Living EP appeared the following year and received broader distribution through the Perennial label in 2011. Fat Possum Records put out the band’s first full-length album, Cruise Your Illusion, in 2013.
