Born Jes Brieden, JES has built a multifaceted career as an award-winning American songwriter, vocalist, DJ, producer, radio personality, and label head. A New York City native, she rose to prominence as a sought-after dance music singer amid the electronic surge of the mid-2000s, supplying vocals for the 2004 Motorcycle club smash “As the Rush Comes.” The track’s impact secured her a contract with Tiësto’s Black Hole Recordings and launched an extensive solo output that continued through the following decade, highlighted by singles such as “Imagination” (2007), “Awaken” (2011), and “Hold On” (2017).

She spent her early years refining her skills while immersed in New York’s vibrant music environment. After moving to Los Angeles, she tapped into the city’s emerging underground electronic and dance circuits, writing original material that included “Starchildren,” which appeared on German DJ Paul van Dyk’s Politics of Dancing compilation. Rising visibility drew a steady stream of collaboration requests, eventually leading to the Gabriel & Dresden partnership that produced “As the Rush Comes” under the Motorcycle name. The song achieved global club success before breaking into mainstream markets, prompting JES to sign with dance music figurehead Tiësto’s Black Hole Recordings.

Her first full-length effort, Disconnect, arrived in 2007 on the imprint and reached U.S. listeners through Ultra distribution; the single “Imagination” from the project reached the top of the Billboard Radio Airplay Chart. Also in 2007, she joined Tiësto on the track “Everything,” featured on his Grammy-nominated album Elements of Life. She performed the song live during his 2008 tour and served as the opening act.

JES reentered the charts in 2011 with the summer anthem “Awaken” and contributed songwriting and vocals to two cuts on BT’s Grammy-nominated These Hopeful Machines. In 2013 she reunited with Cosmic Gate for “Flying Blind” and again with BT for “Letting Go,” reinforcing her status among electronic dance music’s most in-demand collaborators.

Determined to maintain creative control and support emerging EDM artists, she established her own imprint, Intonenation Records, in 2015. The label’s first release, “Hold On” with Shant & Clint Maximus, earned a Grammy nomination. The year 2017 brought further activity, including the Cosmic Gate collaboration “Fall into You,” which dominated dance floors, along with the announcement of a forthcoming alternative and pop EP.
