From Houston, Narrow Head produces thick alternative rock that draws on shoegaze, grunge, and hard rock elements, shaped by the band's layered, riff-driven guitar work. Two self-released EPs plus the 2016 album Satisfaction secured a contract with the established independent Run for Cover Records, which issued the group's second full-length, 12th House Rock, in 2020. Their third album, 2023's Moments of Clarity, retained the known intensity while adopting a more introspective stance that occasionally projected assurance.

The band originated in Dallas during 2013 and devoted several early years to refining its approach alongside a pair of D.I.Y. EPs. After shifting base to Houston, Narrow Head stabilized around the core roster of Jacob Duarte (vocals, guitar), William Menjivar (guitar), Ryan Chavez (bass), and Carson Wilcox (drums), then tracked the independently issued 2016 debut Satisfaction. Drawing from 1990s outfits such as Quicksand, Deftones, and Helmet, the musicians forged an assertive, guitar-centric style that also incorporated shoegaze's gentle haze.

Run for Cover's Boston headquarters signed Narrow Head by 2020 and put out the follow-up 12th House Rock. Expanded to a quintet by the arrival of third guitarist Kora Puckett, the ensemble gained broader notice and favorable reviews for its riff-centric, 1990s-rooted sound. Departing from the somber mood of prior work, Moments of Clarity pursued a straighter path marked by sharper melodies and a forceful hard rock character.
