Super American

Super American is a slacker pop duo from Buffalo, New York, whose upbeat, guitar-driven anthems revolve around co-songwriters and vocalists Matt Cox and Pat Feely. The pair first attracted listeners via the 2017 EP Disposable, then followed with the full-length debut Tequila Sunrise in 2018. After inking a deal with Wax Bodega, the group resurfaced with Sup that same year and Gangster of Love in 2024.

Formed around 2016, the band logged extensive road time and cultivated an audience through early singles such as “Congratulations” and “Sloppy Jazz.” A series of personnel shifts over subsequent years prompted an evolution in style, moving from tight 2000s pop-punk toward a relaxed blend of ’90s indie and slacker pop reminiscent of Weezer and Pavement. Tequila Sunrise appeared on Take This to Heart Records and featured the track “Hands Down Olivia.”

The duo later joined the Philadelphia-based Wax Bodega roster and issued the sophomore LP SUP in 2021. After supporting runs alongside Hot Mulligan, Taking Back Sunday, and Neck Deep, Super American completed their third album, Gangster of Love, in 2024.
