Originating from Amsterdam, contemporary R&B vocalist Natalie La Rose first secured a contract with Flo Rida’s International Music Group after approaching the rapper at an ESPY Awards after-party, yet she ultimately joined Republic, the imprint distributed through Universal Music Group. Her opening Republic release, “Somebody,” unfolded as a restrained club cut styled after Tinashe’s 2014 success “2 On.” Jeremih appeared on the track, supplying a hook that referenced Whitney Houston.
