Biography
Hailing from Pennsylvania, the progressive metalcore band Next to None blends technical prowess with aggressive intensity, taking cues from volatile extreme metal acts such as Slipknot, Lamb of God, Korn, Tool, I See Stars, and Haken. The group came together in 2013, featuring Thomas Cucé on vocals and keyboards, Derrick Schneider handling guitar duties, Max Portnoy on drums, and Kris Rank providing bass lines. Their well-received first record, A Light in the Dark, came out through Inside Out Music in 2015, with production handled by Dream Theater co-founder Mike Portnoy, who is also the father of the band's drummer. The four-piece followed up with their second album, Phases, once more on Inside Out two years afterward.
