Biography
Born Nick Scapa, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Nicky Blitz delivers an energetic rock hybrid that fuses California surf textures, psychedelic accents, and raw garage punch, echoing the approach of Thee Oh Sees and Wavves. Shaped by the work of James Murphy and Max Martin, Scapa first operated out of the spotlight through the production collective 10K Islands, creating material for television, commercials, and recordings by Miley Cyrus (2010's "Liberty Walk"), Icona Pop (2013's "Light Me Up"), and The Voice's Juliet Simms ("Wild Child"). At his Honor Roll Studio in Miami, sessions have drawn Diplo, FKA Twigs, Boys Noize, and Pharrell Williams. Scapa stepped forward as a performer in 2012 with the single "Blast Off." The five-song Hawk EP followed in 2015, its atmosphere suggesting Jim Morrison fronting LCD Soundsystem. That boundary-crossing style persisted into 2016 with "House," merging his Nick Cave baritone and the B-52s' off-kilter flair, alongside a direct cover of the Nerves' "When You Find Out."
