Emerging from Memphis, TN, Nights Like These forged a punishing fusion of heavy metal and hardcore after absorbing the styles of Converge, Between the Buried and Me, and Darkest Hour. The lineup featured vocalist Billy Bottom, guitarists Matt Qualls and Derren Saucier, bassist Sebastian Rios, and drummer Patrick Leatherwood. Even with just a three-song demo in circulation, the group quickly cultivated a devoted regional audience by consistently filling local venues. Performances alongside the Red Chord, Skinless, and Poison the Well drew the notice of Chicago’s Victory Records, which added Nights Like These to its roster in February 2006. The band then tracked its debut full-length with producer Andreas Magnusson (the Black Dahlia Murder, Reflux). Released that June, the aptly titled The Faithless captured the grim worldview running through the group’s lyrics. Nights Like These spent the ensuing summer and early fall promoting the album across an extensive U.S. tour.
